I have worked since the age of 17 as a church musician and as a liturgist, directing and accompanying choirs and congregations from multiple faith traditions. I have helped to plan and implement all types of services, from weddings, commitment ceremonies and civil ceremonies to renewal of vows, baby blessings, and memorial services. I believe that we all long to do this at some point in our lives and I am always thrilled and amazed at what a simple ceremony does to so many people, what it does to our hearts.
And that is why I now act as a marriage Officiant here in Washington DC. Thanks to the Supreme Court and our local government, all people can now get married here in D.C. And I do mean all. As a gay man I find it is stunning to see LGBT couples from everywhere coming to our city to receive what is considered a basic human right for heterosexual couples around the world. To see the joy as the couples celebrate with others their legal union – unbelievable! I perform weddings for everyone who can get married legally here in Washington: gay, straight, everything in-between. Wedding is a universal celebration of love, and I am thrilled to be able to make this celebration real for all people!
